Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe (born November 19, 1981 in Buenos Aires ) is a no longer active Argentine rugby union player . He played as a winger or number eight for the RC Toulon and the Argentine national team . He is currently the assistant coach of the Argentina national rugby union team .

Fernández Lobbe made his debut for Argentina against Uruguay in 2004 . Together with his brother Ignacio , he has been a regular member of his country's squad since then. After excellent performances in games against Wales and New Zealand , he also became internationally known and signed by the Sale Sharks . He had previously played in the domestic league for Liceo Naval .

In the run-up to the 2007 World Cup , Argentina caused a stir with victories over England and Ireland . The good form of the team continued at the World Cup tournament, where it reached third place and thus the best placement in Argentina at world championships. Fernández Lobbe played an important role in this, he was there from the start in every game. In November 2008 he led the national team for the first time as captain on the field.

In 2009 Fernández Lobbe left the Sale Sharks and moved to France for RC Toulon.
