Wilhelm Füllenbach (born April 4, 1887 in Dümpten near Mülheim, † February 5, 1948 in Düsseldorf ) was a German lawyer and politician. Towards the end of the war, he briefly served as appointed mayor of Düsseldorf in 1945 .

Füllenbach studied law and received his doctorate in Münster in 1906 .

During the time of National Socialism , Füllenbach acted at least temporarily as city treasurer in Düsseldorf . The Americans conquered the city on April 17, 1945. On the same day, following advice from Catholic clergy, who always advised US troops in Germany, they appointed Füllenbach Lord Mayor . At the beginning of June 1945 the British took control of Düsseldorf as part of the British zone of occupation. Füllenbach, who was not dependent on any parliament, relied on the Catholic Church, former central politicians and former liberals who had been members of the DVP in choosing his employees . In addition, he campaigned for the Catholic denominational school and rejected the previously existing community schools. As a result, he aroused criticism from the SPD, which is strongly anchored in Düsseldorf, the trade unions and the Protestant Church, which advocated non-denominational schools. The SPD and KPD demanded that Füllenbach be recalled. Philipp Auerbach , to whom the newly appointed District President Fuchs had entrusted the task of "uncovering the past of the National Socialists", was apparently able to contribute information that, among other things, a. "contributed" to the "dismissal" of Füllenbach. The KPD accused him of being a supporting member of the SS . The British then withdrew support from Füllenbach. Füllenbach was released on September 18, 1945. A street in the Golzheim district of Düsseldorf between Meineckestrasse and Tersteegenstrasse is named in honor of Füllenbach. Füllenbach has since been rehabilitated. In 2016 his portrait was hung in Düsseldorf City Hall.

His great-grandson Elias H. Füllenbach has been prior of the Dominican monastery in Düsseldorf since November 2014.
