Ernst Heinrich Lindemann

Ernst Heinrich Lindemann (born January 25, 1833 in Kirchlengern ; † May 8, 1900 in Düsseldorf ) was a German politician.

Life

During his studies in 1851 he became a member of the Frankonia fraternity in Bonn . Between March 21, 1859 and September 1, 1868 he was mayor of Essen . He then became a director at Westdeutsche Versicherungs-Aktienbank. From 1873 he was employed by Friedrich Grillo in the Bochum association for cast steel production. Between 1878 and 1886 he was Lord Mayor of the city of Dortmund and then until 1899 of the city of Düsseldorf . During his tenure as Mayor of Düsseldorf, the city took over the tram , built the Ostpark and the Volksgarten and acquired the Grafenberg Forest . The disputes with the Düsseldorf government president over the purchase of the forest area in the east of the city led to Lindemann's resignation. Ernst Heinrich Lindemann died the following year at the age of 67. His grandson was the naval officer Ernst Lindemann , commander of the battleship Bismarck .

In Dusseldorf and Dortmund Kreuzviertel is Lindemannstraße named after him.
