Fritz Vomfelde

Fritz Vomfelde (born April 6, 1900 in Essen-Altenessen ; † November 17, 1961 in Düsseldorf ) was a German politician (CDU) and mayor of the city of Düsseldorf in 1961.

education and profession

Fritz Vomfelde attended elementary school and secondary school, then he worked in the banking sector. He came to Düsseldorf in 1936 and was initially a representative of Bank Schliep & Co on the stock exchange.

politics

From 1920 to 1933 he was a member of the German Center Party and most recently its district chairman in Essen-Ost. He acted as chairman of the Jung- Windthorstbund .

From 1945 Fritz Vomfelde was a member and district treasurer of the CDU , from 1946 until his death on the council of the state capital Düsseldorf. From 1953 to 1956 he was parliamentary group leader of the CDU in the council. From 1956 to 1961 he was a member of the Rhineland Landscape Assembly and deputy chairman of the Landscape Assembly. In 1956 he was appointed mayor, on March 28, 1961, he was finally appointed mayor of the city and remained so until his death in November of that year.

From July 5, 1950 until his death on November 17, 1961, Fritz Vomfelde was a directly elected member of the 2nd , 3rd and 4th Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituencies 045 Düsseldorf-West and 045 Düsseldorf III.

Fritz Vomfelde is buried in the Düsseldorf North Cemetery.

Honors

Fritz-Vomfelde-Straße in the Oberkassel district has been named after him since 1991 . The former Fritz-Vomfelde-Platz , also in Oberkassel, was renamed Feldmühleplatz in 1991 . Vomfelde was an honorary member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Burgundia (Leipzig) Düsseldorf in the CV .
