Werner Rudolf Heinrich Keyßner (born July 4, 1903 in Rüttenscheid , † April 10, 1969 in Mönchengladbach ) was a German politician ( NSDAP and FDP ). He was Lord Mayor of Mönchengladbach from 1937 to 1945 , and in April 1945 Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf .

Life

The son of an employee attended the Krupp secondary school , which was followed by training as a banker. Between 1925 and 1932 he was a commercial clerk at Friedrich Krupp AG .

He was a member of the NSDAP early on ( membership number 39,807) and since 1929 district leader in Mönchengladbach . From 1933 he was promoted to Gau inspector in the Gau Düsseldorf . On August 26, 1932, he replaced Josef Klein , who had resigned, in the Prussian state parliament, to which he was a member until the body was dissolved in October 1933. In the Reichstag election on November 12, 1933 , he was elected to the Reichstag via the NSDAP's unified list. From September 24, 1937, he was initially acting, and from June 30, 1938, he was full-time Lord Mayor of Mönchengladbach. After the city was conquered by the Allies towards the end of the Second World War , he held the office of Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf from April 3 to 17, 1945. After the Allies took Düsseldorf, he was interned until 1948 . After his release, he initially worked as a merchant and sales representative. Between 1961 and 1964 he was a city councilor for the FDP in Mönchengladbach.
