Theodor Bolzenius

Theodor Bolzenius (* 1922 ; † September 5, 1997 ) was a local politician ( CDU ) and Lord Mayor of Mönchengladbach from 1975 to 1984 . He was the first Lord Mayor after the union of the (old) Mönchengladbach with the city of Rheydt and the municipality of Wickrath to form the "City of Mönchengladbach", which was implemented on January 1, 1975 during the regional reform in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Düsseldorf Act ).

Life

From 1965 to 1987, Bolzenius was the headmaster of the Stiftisches Humanist Gymnasium Mönchengladbach . During his tenure, the Abteiberg Museum and the Mönchengladbach Central Baths were built. Due to alleged infidelity, the CDU lost its majority in the Mönchengladbach city council after 39 years, and Bolzenius resigned from his office as a result.
