Heinz Feldhege

Heinz Feldhege (born May 27, 1929 ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Live and act

Feldhege was a federal railway official, joined the CDU and was elected to the Mönchengladbach City Council in 1963 . Feldhege was particularly committed to the growing together of the cities of Rheydt and Gladbach. After the dissolution of the former city councilors Rheydt and Mönchengladbach (Alt-Gladbach) through the local reorganization in 1975, he was a member of the transitional council made up of 15 people. In 1984 Feldhege was elected Lord Mayor of the united city of Mönchengladbach.

In the summer of 1989, over 300 former Jewish citizens accepted his invitation to come to their hometown for a week of encounter. Feldhege remained Lord Mayor of Mönchengladbach for thirteen years until his resignation in 1997, making him the longest-serving mayor of the city.
