Johannes Handschumacher
Johannes Handschumacher (born July 5, 1887 in Lindern , † October 31, 1957 in Büderich ) was a German lawyer and politician ( center , CDU ).
Life and work
After graduation hand Schumacher took a degree in law at which he awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished. He was admitted to the bar, initially worked as a local judge and founded a law firm in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel in 1934 , which his son Ernst Wilhelm Handschumacher continued after his death. During the time of National Socialism, Handschumacher suffered from several illnesses and was not involved in the war. In 1942 he was buried in a bomb attack in his home and seriously injured. From 1948 to 1957 he was President of the Central Association of German House and Landowners .
politics
Handschumacher joined the center during the Weimar Republic and was a member of the party until it was dissolved in 1933. From 1920 to 1929 he was an alderman for the city of Rheydt . From 1930 to 1933 he was Lord Mayor of the short-lived town of Gladbach-Rheydt , which was newly formed in 1929 .
After the Second World War he joined the CDU. On January 21, 1953, he moved up on the North Rhine-Westphalian state list for the resigned MP Franz Etzel in the German Bundestag, to which he belonged until the end of the legislative period in the same year.
