Hans Poeschel (politician)

Hans Poeschel (born September 20, 1881 in Grimma ; † June 2, 1960 in Munich ) was a German administrative lawyer and mayor of Mönchengladbach during the Nazi era .

Life

During his studies Poeschel became a member of the Association of German Students in Leipzig . After passing the legal state examination and subsequent legal traineeship, he worked in the German colonial administration from 1911 to 1914 and then took part in the First World War. From 1919 he was first employed in the Reich Colonial Ministry, then in the Foreign Office.

In 1921 he was appointed district administrator of the Randow district in the province of Pomerania . From 1923 to 1925 he worked as government vice-president in Frankfurt (Oder) and from 1925 from 1931 as district president in the administrative district of Liegnitz .

In 1931 he was elected Lord Mayor of the Pomeranian provincial capital, Szczecin . From 1933 to 1937 he worked in the same position in Mönchengladbach.
