Gerhard Wenderoth
Gerhard Wenderoth (born November 6, 1930 in Kassel ; † December 17, 2002 ) was a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .
education and profession
After graduating from high school, he began an administration apprenticeship. He then studied law in Marburg and Frankfurt am Main. He was a lawyer in Frankfurt am Main and employed on the main board of the Union of Railway Workers in Germany as deputy head of the legal department.
Gerhard Wenderoth was married and had a son.
School policy
1951 Wenderoth joined the SPD . After his son started school , he got involved in his school's parents' council . In the early 1970s, the school policy of the social-liberal coalition in Hesse polarized the state. Education Minister Ludwig von Friedeburg's efforts to dissolve the tripartite school system in comprehensive schools met with great resistance. Wenderoth, did not share this goal. "As long as Willy Brandt sends his son Mathias to a grammar school," argued Wenderoth, he too feels entitled to send his son to a grammar school. After he gave a speech in 1974 to the "Hessischer Elternverein" (a private association that advocated the structured school system) and later had himself elected to the board of the association, the sub-district of Frankfurt applied for a party expulsion procedure against him. The arbitration commission of the sub-district of Frankfurt followed suit and decided to expel the party. The federal arbitration commission of the SPD confirmed this decision in early 1976 in the final instance.
After being excluded from the party, Wenderoth ran as chairman of the Hessian state parents' council in 1976 and was elected. Of the 15 members of the panel, 11 were critical of government policy. As a result, the state parents' council was at the forefront of resistance against Hessian school policy. He ran a series of lawsuits before the administrative courts up to the Federal Constitutional Court. The new election of the State Parents' Council in 1977 was a triumph for Wenderoth. He was re-elected and now there were 13 of 15 members who were critical of state politics. He was a member of the state parents' council until 1979. In 1981 he was awarded the Letter of Honor of the State of Hesse (still under the social-liberal state government) .
politics
Gerhard Wenderoth now joined the CDU.
From 1981 to 1989 he was a member of the CDU parliamentary group in the city council of Frankfurt am Main , from 1985 to 1989 as parliamentary group chairman and chairman of the main and finance committee. He was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1982 to 1991. He was elected in the constituency of Frankfurt am Main III . The main focus of his political work was legal and school policy.
