Wilhelm Schmieding (politician, 1841)
Karl Wilhelm Schmieding (born July 20, 1841 in Bönen , Westphalia province , † October 7, 1910 in Dortmund ) was a German administrative lawyer, politician and municipal official in the Kingdom of Prussia .
Life
Schmieding studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg and the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin seven semesters law . In 1861 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg . In 1872 he was appointed district judge in Essen and in 1880 district administrator in the Altena district. From 1883 to 1886 he was district administrator in the Bochum district . From 1886 until his death in 1910 he was Lord Mayor of Dortmund . As such, he belonged to the so-called "OB faction" in the Prussian mansion .
During his term of office in Dortmund, the opening of the town hall , the Dortmund harbor and the old synagogue in Dortmund fell .
