Bertram Pfeiffer (born December 8, 1797 in Neukirchen , today Leverkusen , † April 2, 1872 in Bonn ) was a German politician.

Live and act

Bertram Pfeiffer was the son of a farmer. He was general manager and secretary of Friedrich Wilhelm von Redern in Berlin .

On October 10, 1833 he was appointed mayor of Essen . In personal union he was mayor of the Steele mayor from 1834 to 1838 and mayor of the Altenessen mayor from 1834 to 1840 . He took over the latter office as the successor to the suspended Christian Noot . In 1841 Pfeiffer founded the Sparkasse Essen . He held the office of mayor of Essen until September 30, 1847, when he was defeated by his opponent Heinrich Horstmann in the election.

With the suggestion to Franz Philipp Funcke to publish the history of the principality and the city of Essen in 1848, Pfeiffer made a contribution to the local history of Essen.

After 1847 he worked as a general agent for an insurance company in Cologne . Afterwards he was elected Mayor of Remscheid on January 21, 1851 . He resigned this last office on January 4, 1859 for health reasons. Pfeiffer spent his retirement in Bonn.

In 1958, Pfeifferstrasse in Essen- Schonnebeck was named after him in memory of Bertram Pfeiffer .
