from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian Diedrich Johann Ernst Noot (born November 14, 1783 in Ruhrort , † November 21, 1859 in Essen ) was a German politician .

Live and act

Christian Noot was the son of a "Receptor" (tax collector) and cousin of the entrepreneur Franz Haniel .

From 1815 to 1834 he was mayor of the Altenessen mayor's office , which was founded in 1813 and to which Frillendorf , Huttrop , Karnap , Schonnebeck , Katernberg , Rotthausen , Rüttenscheid and Stoppenberg belonged until 1874 . In personal union, Noot was also mayor of Steele from 1824 to 1834 . In 1929 Steele was incorporated into the city of Essen.

During his term of office, today's Altenessener Strasse was expanded into a road, which led to insurmountable difficulties. On the one hand, the district administrator demanded the expansion, but the Altenessen farmers did not play along and refused to participate, especially financially. Christian Noot was suspended from his post as mayor in 1834.

In Essen-Altenessen-Süd the former Louisenstrasse was named after him as Nootstrasse in 1915.
