Karl-Heinz Bona (* 17th August 1927 in Oberhausen , † 18th February 2014 ) was a German local politician of the CDU and 1968. Acting mayor of the city of Remscheid .

Life

Bona was born the son of a postal worker and had lived in Lennep since 1940 . Professionally, he worked as a civil servant at the Deutsche Bundespost .

Karl-Heinz Bona was the only son of Johann and Maria Pauline Bona. After the ancestors, who originally came from France, had held management positions as mining officials in Upper Silesian coal mining in the early 19th century, the family moved to Oberhausen around 1850. The advancing industrialization of hard coal mining in the Ruhr area attracted new workers to the Ruhr, miners as well as directors.

Johann Bona, father of Karl-Heinz Bona, b. 1901, like many of his relatives, was a civil servant, but with the Reichspost in Oberhausen. According to tradition, he was one of the first to hold a driver's license for a post bus. Maria Pauline, 1902–1978, had converted from Protestant to Roman Catholic faith in 1923 because of her marriage to Johann Bona and both were close to the German Center Party. His refusal to join the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) as a senior civil servant was followed by demotion under civil service law and transfer from the city of Oberhausen to the Lennep district of Remscheid in 1931. He died in 1971 and is buried there too.

Karl-Heinz Bona joined the CDU in the 1950s. For a long time he was a member of the district council in the Lennep district, where he was district chairman from 1957 to 1975 and again from 1979 to 1984. From 1961 to 1999 he was a member of the council of the city of Remscheid, from 1964 to 1979 and from 1984 to 1989 mayor and from October 16 to 28, 1968 acting mayor. From 1964 he was designated by the CDU as a candidate for the office of Lord Mayor.

In addition to his local political functions, Bona was a member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke and GEWAG.

Karl-Heinz Bona has three sons and six grandchildren.
