Georg zur Hellen

Georg zur Hellen (born May 26, 1886 in Hagen ; † September 11, 1954 in Remscheid ) was a German politician and Lord Mayor of Remscheid.

Life

Born as the son of a clerk , zur Hellen studied law in Marburg and Leipzig after attending the Remscheid high school . During his studies in 1905 he became a member of the Arminia Marburg fraternity . He completed his legal training with the assessor exam in Berlin in 1914. He took part in World War I , most recently as a deputy sergeant . In 1919 he became an alderman of the city of Remscheid and headed the legal department. In 1945 he was appointed Lord Mayor of Remscheid by the British military government . He held this office until 1946 and retired in 1947.
