Judith Guest

Judith Ann Guest (born March 29, 1936 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American writer .

Life

Judith Ann Guest is the great niece of the American poet Edgar Guest . She attended Mumford High School in Detroit and graduated from Dondero High School in Royal Oak , Michigan in 1954 . She studied psychology and English at the University of Michigan . She then worked for a few years as a teacher at a public school before devoting herself entirely to writing. With Ordinary People her first novel, which in 1977 with the title in 1976 Ordinary People was translated. The family drama filmed by Robert Redford was released in 1980. Ordinary People won at the Academy Awards 1981 as Best Film , the Best Director , the Best Adapted Screenplay and Timothy Hutton as Best Supporting Actor four Oscars.
