Judith Jolly, Baroness Jolly (born April 27, 1951 in Leamington Spa ) is a British teacher and a member of the House of Lords .

biography

Judith Jolly went to school in Warwick . She graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in control engineering, and then from the University of Nottingham , where she did a postgraduate teacher degree in mathematics. She is married and has two sons.

She spent a large part of her professional life in the far south west of England. She taught mathematics for over 15 years and became a pioneer of information and data processing in schools. She also became Chief of Staff for a Member of the European Parliament , Lord Teverson. In 1984 she joined the Liberal Party .

She lived in Oman for three years in the 1990s while her husband served in the Royal Navy of Oman. During this time she worked for the British Council as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language and as a mentor to students pursuing a National Vocational Qualification.

She chaired Robin Teverson's election campaign for the European Parliament in 1994 . She was an agent for Paul Tyler's campaign in the 1997 general election . She also became Non-Executive Director for an NHS Trust for Mental Illnesses and Learning Disabilities in 1997 and then for an NHS Primary Care Trust and eventually chaired the Board of Trustees of the NHS Primary Care Trust in North East Cornwall prior to its final reorganization NHS in 2006. She was a lay inspector for the Health Improvement Commission.

In 1999, Judith Jolly was Deputy Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Candidate Association. From 2002 she served for two terms in the Federal Policy Committee of the Liberal Democrats . At that time she was actively involved in the community and in non-profit associations, on the supervisory boards of the Citizens Advice Bureau, Credit Union, regeneration organizations and as a member of the diocesan synod. Her focus was on highlighting the problems of poverty and rural life.

In 2007 she was the regional executive director for Devon and Cornwall. She became the chairman of a Cornish nonprofit computer company that produces materials for memory clinics. She was appointed as Baroness Jolly , of Congdon's Shop in the County of Cornwall, as Life Peeress in the House of Lords in 2010 .
