Youth integration course

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The youth integration course is an offer in Germany for young migrants under the age of 27 who are no longer required to attend school , who have not yet acquired sufficient knowledge of the German language and who are aiming to start school or vocational training. The implementation is regulated in the Integration Course Ordinance (IntV). Since the target group requires special lessons and a higher level of supervision (Section 13 (1) sentence 1 IntV), the youth integration course differs from the general integration course in some areas .

target

The aim of this offer is to promote the integration of migrants in terms of social participation and equal opportunities . Through connection points in everyday life and test rooms in which they can apply and deepen the knowledge they have acquired, they acquire language skills and orientation knowledge that can form a basis on the way to professional and social integration. The migrants should become familiar with the language and the living conditions in the federal territory to the extent that they can act independently in all matters of daily life without the help or mediation of third parties (Section 43 subs. 2 AufenthG).

The course

The youth integration course consists of a language course with 900 teaching units, which leads via stages A1 and A2 to level B1 according to the GER , and an orientation course with 60 teaching units. The language course consists of a basic course, the advanced course A and the advanced course B with 300 teaching units each. All migrants who have successfully completed the language course or who already have sufficient language skills can take part in the orientation course. The maximum number of participants in a course is 15 people.

Focus

A special focus is on imparting general knowledge about different areas of life in Germany. The youth integration course places a special emphasis on youth-specific topics and content in order to make it easier for migrants to shape an independent life in Germany in the future. During the course, the participants deal with:

everyday life
School, work and job search
  • Professions, professional groups, selected professional profiles, entry requirements
  • Structure and functioning of the German education system and the labor market
  • Application training
  • Learning techniques and strategies
  • Use of modern media, which is often necessary in everyday working life in Germany
  • First terms from a school vocabulary that is used in central subjects at general schools and vocational schools

practice

After 700 hours, the participants have the opportunity to gain concrete insights into the tasks and activities of a schoolchildren, student, trainee or professional. The practical phase consists of 100 teaching units and, on the one hand, aims to apply and consolidate acquired language skills in authentic situations. Other goals include coming into direct contact with educational institutions as well as jobs and awareness of the requirements that are bound to a schoolchildren, student, trainee or professional. Initial expectations and wishes can be checked through the internship or internship . Since the participants are accompanied and supervised during the practical phase both by a teacher and by the nearby Youth Migration Service (JMD), possible sources of problems can be discussed on the part of the participant. The youth migration services are to be involved in particular for advice on the selection, search, preparation and follow-up of internships / internships.

Team teaching

At the request of the Federal Office, two teachers can teach together in a course group for a maximum of 100 teaching units. In the practical phase, a further 50 teaching units can then be requested.

Cooperations

In order to enable the young people to make smooth transitions to secondary schools, training and professions, general networking and a willingness to cooperate on the part of the provider with advisory services are required.

Final test

Successful participation in the youth integration course is followed by a final test, which consists of a scaled language test " German test for immigrants " with language level B1 and the scaled test "Living in Germany". A special test set for young people is used in the language test.

Repetition

If the learning objective B1 has not been achieved after the total number of hours of 900 teaching units has been exhausted and the participant can prove that they have taken part in the language course properly and that they have not successfully completed the final language test, an application for repetition can be submitted to the Federal Office . This repetition comprises a maximum of another 300 teaching units in order to ultimately pass the “German test for immigrants”. Another repetition is only possible at your own expense.
