The 1982/83 season was the 41st season of the Yugoslav Ice Hockey League , the highest Yugoslav ice hockey league . Champion was for the twelfth time in the club history of HK Olimpija Ljubljana .

mode

In the main round, each of the seven teams played a total of twelve games. The four best-placed teams in the main round qualified for the final round, the two first-placed teams in turn qualified for the championship finals. The other three main round teams contested a placement round for 5th place. According to their main round placement, the teams received between one and four bonus points for the second phase of the season. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
