The 1983/84 season was the 42nd season of the Yugoslav Ice Hockey League , the highest Yugoslav ice hockey league . Champion was for the 13th time in the club history of HK Olimpija Ljubljana .

In the main round, each of the eight teams played a total of 14 games. The four best-placed teams in the main round qualified for the final round, the two first-placed teams in turn qualified for the championship finals. The other four main round teams contested a placement round for 5th place. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
