The 1985/86 season was the 44th season of the Yugoslav Ice Hockey League , the highest Yugoslav ice hockey league . Champion became the seventh time in the history of the HK Partizan Belgrade .

mode

Initially, the ten teams played a common main round. The four best-placed teams in the main round qualified for the final round, the two first-placed teams in turn qualified for the championship finals. The other six main round teams contested a placement round for 5th place. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
