Yugoslav Ice Hockey League

The Yugoslav ice hockey champions have been played since 1939. The master was determined within the Yugoslav ice hockey league, which was the top division of Yugoslavia .

In 1939 Yugoslavia was accepted into the International Ice Hockey Federation . In the same year, the first real Yugoslav championship was held, which was won by SK Ilirija Ljubljana . While HK Partizan Belgrade dominated the championship in the 1950s , in the following three decades mostly one of the two Slovenian top clubs HK Jesenice and HK Olimpija Ljubljana won the title.

In 1991, the Yugoslav ice hockey league was dissolved when the SFR Yugoslavia split up. Since then, there have been three independent national championships with the Serbian League , the Croatian League and the Slovenian League . Formally, the Serbian ice hockey league played a Yugoslav champion until 2003.
