Jules Sher

Jules Sher (* 1934 in Johannesburg ) is an Australian painter of South African origin.

biography

Sher studied painting from 1951 to 1954 at the Johannesburg Art School and in 1956 at the St Martin's School of Art in London . In 1967 he emigrated to Australia.

Sher is a fan of abstract landscape painting and has so far participated in numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions, to which he has often been invited. He has received several awards for his work. In 1993 he received the highest recommendation from the Cultural Committee of Western Australia (WA) for the "Western Australia Art Award" and in 1994 he was shortlisted for the Mandorla Prize for Religious Art, WA. He published numerous professional articles.

Sher is married to the artist Jean Sher, who was born in Durban in 1947 .

  • 2002: 1st Prize from the Shire of Roebourne for the best comprehensive work of art at the "Cossack Art Awards"
