Julia Fidel

Julia Fidel (born in Darmstadt ) is a German filmmaker . Since 2019 she has been the director of the Berlinale Series , the television series of the Berlinale .

Life

Julia Fidel studied film studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 2000 to 2002 and cultural studies at Humboldt University in Berlin and film studies at Freie Universität Berlin ( Bachelor 2003). After continuing her studies in media studies from 2003 to 2007 at the Babelsberg Film University , she completed her diploma there.

During her studies in 2005 she directed the international student film festival sehsuchten . From 2006 she worked for the Berlinale in the Generation and Panorama sections in various roles. In addition, she worked in various projects in Berlin, London and New York as assistant director, casting, audience research, distribution and press work. She has also worked as a choreographer for several national and international productions, including A Cure for Wellness (directed by Gore Verbinski ) and Sense8 (directed by Lana Wachowski ). She was responsible for all dance elements in the Babylon Berlin series by Tom Tykwer , Achim von Borries and Hendrik Handloegten .

In 2019 Fidel took over the management of the Berlinale Series at the Berlin International Film Festival.
