Julia Gajewski

Julia Gajewski (born October 31, 1962 ) is a German basketball trainer and former player.

Life

Gajewski played basketball in the women's basketball league in Oberhausen and coached youth teams during her playing career. She led the women of NB Oberhausen as a trainer from the district league to the Bundesliga (promotion to the second division in 1999, promotion to the first division in 2002). After taking a break of around two and a half years , Gajewski , who was a full-time teacher for sports and education in Essen , was again in charge of NB Oberhausen in the Bundesliga from 2004. She formed a “double top” with John Bruhnke , but according to her own statement she had the main responsibility with 51:49 percent. In the 2004/05 game year, Oberhausen was runner-up under Gajewskis and Bruhnke's leadership and third in 2008 and 2009. In 2005 Gajewski and Bruhnke were named coach of the year in the women's Bundesliga. In addition, she was the executive coach of the West German Basketball Association and in 2008 and 2009 national coach for the female U20 team of the German Basketball Association . After the end of the 2008/09 season, she retired as Oberhausen's head coach and henceforth acted as assistant coach, but returned to office in November 2009 when the club had separated from Bruhnke as coach. Gajewski led NB Oberhausen to win the German cup competition in 2012, in the same year she ended her coaching work, but continued to be involved in the club's board. In 2013 she became head of the Bockmühle comprehensive school in Essen-Altendorf .
