Julia Galemire
Julia Galemire (born January 1, 1923 in Barrio Sur , Montevideo , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan writer.
Galemire studied at the humanities faculty of the Universidad de la República with Roberto Ibáñez and Eugenio Petit Muñoz .
Galemire published several of his own poetry works. With her texts, she was also the subject of various anthologies and in 1999 was one of the selected authors who were represented in the book Letras de Paz , published by the Unión de Escritores de América (UNEDA) with the support of UNESCO . Some of her poems were also set to music, including Fue la niña and La luna de los magos , which Antonio Cerviño and Ethel Afamado respectively performed . Carla Fullana also took on the works of Galemire in this context and gave the triptych Obsesiones and the poem Sabiduría a musical framework.
In 1994 Galemire founded the cultural group La Tertulia . She directed and coordinated the radio show of the same name for six years since 1996 on CX 38 SODRE . Since 2004 she has been responsible for the annual edition of the humanities magazine, also known as La Tertulia . For the magazine La Onda she was also in the Internet edition of La Onda Digital concerned as a cultural columnist and worked in this context with book reviews. Since 2008, the writer has also been the literary coordinator of the Sur Montevideo cultural project . Since 2011 she has also been the president of the Sur Uruguay cultural project .
In 1997 and 2002 Galemire received a mention from the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) in the category "Published Poetry". The same ministry honored them as well as the Intendencia Municipal of Montevideo on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the La Tertulia group .
