Julia Schütz

Julia Schütz (* 1977 ) is a German educator.

Life

She completed her studies in educational sciences, sociology and psychology (1998–2004) in Hamburg and at the Goethe University in 2004 as a qualified pedagogue. From 2004 to 2008 she was a doctoral candidate at the Department of Education, Institute for Social Education and Adult Education, and a scholarship holder at the Frankfurt Graduate School for Social Sciences (FGS) in Frankfurt am Main . After receiving her doctorate in December 2008 (dissertation: Pedagogical professional work and satisfaction: an interdisciplinary study), she became a research assistant at the Center for Technology-Supported Education (formerly the distance education project group) at Helmut Schmidt University in 2008 . From 2008 to 2009 she was a research assistant in the field of educational science with a special focus on media education ( Rudolf Kammerl ), University of Hamburg . From 2009 to 2011 she was a research assistant and project manager (together with Dieter Nittel / Rudolf Tippelt ) of the PAELL study (pedagogical gainful employment in the system of lifelong learning), Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. From 2012 to 2015 she was a research assistant at Leuphana College, Innovation Incubator, Leuphana University Lüneburg . In the 2015 summer semester he represented the professorship for social pedagogy, Faculty of Education, in Lüneburg . From October 2015 to April 2017 she taught as a professor of social work at the MSH Medical School Hamburg . She turned down a call to the University of Bremen for the W2 professorship in Education. After her habilitation and Venia Legendi for the subject of educational science in May 2017 (habilitation thesis: Experience of recognition and striving for recognition. Identification, significance and effects of social recognition for educational professions) at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, she has been head of the empirical educational research department at the FernUniversität since September 2017 in Hagen .

Her main research interests are empirical research methods, professional theory, lifelong learning, social recognition, university research and development and (comparative) pedagogical occupational group research.
