Julia Unterhinninghofen (* 1982 ) is a German physicist and professor at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences .

Life

Julia Unterhinninghofen was born in Frankfurt am Main and went to school. She completed her studies in physics from 2000 to 2005 with a diploma in 2005 . Her focus was on solid-state and laser physics . For her diploma thesis at the Institute for Theoretical Physics on the subject of nonlinear excitation of superconductors, she was awarded the Clara von Simson Prize of the Technical University of Berlin in 2006.

After working as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, she received her doctorate from 2007 to 2010 at the University of Bremen and the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg . Her dissertation was awarded a prize from the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

From 2010 to 2014 Unterhinninghofen worked at OEC AG in Munich as a developer for optical systems. She designed and tested innovative optics for, among other things, energy-efficient LED street lights and medical devices.

Since 2014 she has been a professor at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, where she represents the fields of physics, mathematics, optics and lighting technology. In her research, she deals with the effects of manufacturing deviations on the function of optics that have been manufactured using new methods such as 3D printing, as well as the development of innovative geometries for efficient light and color mixing. In the laboratory for optical technologies, work on the subjects of energy-efficient LED lighting is also carried out; Among other things, a project to redesign the lighting system for the Koblenz-Güls local history museum is being worked on here.
