Julie Lynn Holmes (born March 23, 1951 in North Hollywood , California ) is a former American figure skater who started in a single run .

At the national championships , Holmes, who was trained first by Nancy Rush and then by Carlo Fassi , was always in the shadow of Janet Lynn . From 1969 to 1972 she was runner-up behind her. At the world championships, however, she could always beat Lynn. Holmes was a strong compulsory figure runner, while Lynn had her strength in the freestyle. In 1969, Holmes competed in their first world championship in Colorado Springs, and finished them in fourth place. At her next world championship, in 1970 in Ljubljana , she won her first medal with bronze behind Gabriele Seyfert and Beatrix Schuba . But she celebrated her greatest success a year later in Lyon , at her third and last World Cup . After Gaby Seyfert's resignation, she became vice world champion behind Beatrix Schuba. She finished her only Olympic Games in Sapporo in 1972 in fourth place.

After the Olympics, she ended her amateur career and toured with the figure skating revue Ice Capades. Later she also worked part-time as a trainer.
