Julie Marie Vinter Hansen
Julie Marie Vinter Hansen (born July 20, 1890 in Copenhagen , † July 27, 1960 in Mürren , Switzerland ) was a Danish astronomer. A common abbreviation for her name appears to have been JVH.
Her parents were the teacher and politician Jørgen Hansen (1837-1911) and his wife Rasmine Sophie Vinter (1848-1929), who came from a family of sailors. In 1917 she graduated from the University of Copenhagen. During this time and afterwards she worked at the University's Astronomical Observatory.
In astronomical terms, she is known to have made calculations for the comet Comas Solas .
Honors
- 1940: Annie Jump Cannon Prize for Astronomy from the American Astronomical Society
In her honor, the asteroid discovered by Liisi Oterma in 1544 was named Vinterhansenia .
