Julius Arnold (pathologist)

Julius Arnold (born August 19, 1835 in Zurich , † February 2, 1915 in Heidelberg ) was a German pathologist .

Life

Friedrich Arnold's son studied medicine in Prague , Vienna , Berlin and Heidelberg . There he was in 1860 with the work of the conjunctiva of the cornea and the old man bow his doctorate and in 1863 habilitation . From 1866 Julius Arnold was associate professor for pathological anatomy at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität. From 1870 until his retirement in 1907 he was a full professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-University and director of the pathological institute of the university.

Julius Arnold's special fields of work were the pathology of gunshot wounds, the fine structure of cells and the history of the development of the eye.

Julius Arnold found his final resting place in the Bergfriedhof (Heidelberg) in the family grave where his father, the anatomist and physiologist Friedrich Arnold rests. The grave complex is in Department F.
