Julius Grunow

Julius Grunow (born January 11, 1873 in Kaakstedt , Templin district , † December 10, 1960 in West Berlin ) was a German politician ( USPD , SPD ).

In 1902, Grunow was elected municipal councilor in Oberschöneweide near Berlin for the SPD . In the First World War he was a soldier from 1916, but in 1917 he was requested by the Oberspree cable works as "important to the war effort". In 1917 he also switched to the USPD. Oberschöneweide was incorporated into the Greater Berlin Act in 1920, and the district assembly of the Treptow district elected Grunow as the district mayor of Berlin-Treptow. In 1922 he returned to the SPD. At the " seizure of power " by the National SocialistsIn 1933 he was dismissed for allegedly “unsuitable”. His usual retirement benefits were also withdrawn.

After the Second World War , in 1958 Grunow received compensation for the withdrawn remuneration as district mayor.
