Julius Gschaider

Julius Gschaider (born May 8, 1878 in Steyr , Upper Austria ; † July 31, 1963 there ) was an Austrian businessman and politician .

Gschaider comes from a wealthy large merchant family, his father was also Vice Mayor of Steyr. Julius studied chemistry for a few semesters and then worked for an import company in Trieste for some time. He married in 1904 and they have three children. During his studies in 1898 he became a member of the Germania Vienna fraternity .

In 1911 he became vice mayor and from 1912 to 1919 he was mayor of Steyr . He did a great job building the business school, the hospital and the water and electricity supply. In 1918/1919 Gschaider was a member of the provisional provincial assembly of Upper Austria for the German National Party .
