Julius Huth (painter)

Heinrich Julius Wilhelm Huth (born June 27, 1838 in Woistenthin , Cammin district , Pomerania ; † July 23, 1892 in Schöneberg near Berlin ) was a German marine painter .

Life

Born in Pomerania, Huth first went to sea and made it to the ship's captain. Only later did he turn to painting and mainly created oil paintings and watercolors with motifs from seafaring. From 1874 until his death he exhibited frequently at the Berlin Academy. Among other things at the 54th exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1880 the pictures Cap Wrath , which shows Cape Wrath on the north-west coast of Scotland and the fishermen of Norderney in the North Sea . On October 1st of that year he moved from Potsdamerstrasse 43 to Kurfürstenstrasse 108. In 1891 the painting Lootsenschoner was in the mouth of the Elbe during a thunderstorm at the anniversary exhibition of the Association of Berlin Artists.

He was married to Ida geb. Kornitzki (1843–1888) from Flaake, Cammin district.
