Julius Kuriakose

Mor Julius Kuriakose (* as Julius Kochupurackal on July 6, 1923 in Kuttanad , Alappuzha , India; † April 9, 2011 in Manjinikkara , Kerala , India) was Archbishop of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church within the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch .

Life

Julius Kuriakose studied at the Manjanikkara Dayaro Monastery in Manjinikkara, Kerala. In February 1955, the Mor Julius Elias to Korooyo and on 21 February 1958 to Kassisso consecrated. From 1958 to 1962 he worked in the parishes of St. George of the Simhasana Church in Perumpilly, the Simahsana Church in Thumpamon and in Mangalore. From 1962 to 1984 he was Vicar in St. Mary's of the Simhasana Church in Arthat.

From 1984 to 2001 Julius Kuriakose was First Patriarch Secretary of Ignatius Zakka Iwas in the Patriarchal Vicariate of the Apostolic See of Antioch and the whole East in Damascus . On December 22, 1990, Mor Ignatius Zakka I. Iwas, Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch, consecrated him to the Ramban .

In 1998 he was elected Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of the Simhasana Church by the Synod of the Syriac Orthodox Church , belonging to the Catholic of the East and one of the dioceses of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch in the Patriarchate of the Apostolic See of Antioch and all of the East. He was also appointed Patrichal Vicar of the Simhasana Church Institution of the Apostolic See in India. He was ordained bishop on September 27, 1998 by Mor Ignatius Zakka I. Iwas.
