June Caprice

June Caprice (born November 19, 1895 in Arlington as Helen Elizabeth Lawson , † November 9, 1936 in Los Angeles ) was an American film actress of the silent film era .

Live and act

Her parents were Peter and Anna Lawson. Caprice was spotted winning a Mary Pickford lookalike contest. She then signed her first contract with Thanhouser Film Corporation. Before long, however, she moved to Fox Film Corporation and directed her first film , Caprice of the Mountains , in 1916, directed by John G. Adolfi . Here she played the role of Caprice Talbert at the side of Harry Hilliard . The role name also gave her stage name. Directed by Adolfi and alongside Hilliard, the films Little Miss Happiness and The Ragged Princess, and in 1917 Patsy , were made in the same year . In total, Adolfi directed eight of her films. In Every Girl's Dream (1917) she starred again alongside Hilliard, now directed by Harry F. Billarde . He directed seven more films by 1918. Eventually the collaboration with Fox was ended and she moved to Albert Capellani Productions in 1919. In the following films Oh Boy! , The Love Cheat and A Damsel in Distress, all made in 1919, was her film partner Creighton Hale . This was followed by another change in the film production company, now to George B. Seitz Productions and here she shot her last two films Rogues and Romance (1920) and The Sky Ranger (1921). These were shot as a serial . Due to her popularity, she was signed to Coca-Cola for advertising shoots.

She was married to director Harry F. Billarde until his death in 1931. They had a daughter, June Elizabeth (1922–1991), who later became known as an actress and cover girl under the stage name Toni Seven .

After her death in 1936, she was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale , California .
