The Jung RC 43 C series is the name given to three-axle locomotives from the Jung Lokomotivfabrik , five of which were produced between 1970 and 1974 and used in medium-sized shunting and light freight train services.

The series was developed together with the Jung RC 70 BB and the Jung RC 25 B and represents the last development stage of the manufacturer's diesel locomotives. The locomotives are essentially still available today.

history

With this locomotive, the manufacturer brought medium-strength shunting locomotives onto the market, which were the last development stage of Jung's diesel locomotives. The cardan shaft drive, axle suspension with Megi suspension and a flow reversing gear were incorporated into production . Some locomotives received radio remote control . The designation of the locomotive reflects the type RC , roughly a tenth of the engine power in hp and the wheel arrangement.

Five machines of the Loktype were built, one of them

technology

The locomotive has two short stems of roughly the same size for the engine and the auxiliaries, between which the driver's cab is located. This enables the driver to have a good view of the route. The fluid transmission is arranged below the cab floor.

The new machine system consists of a six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from MTU and a reversing gear . A multi-step gearbox for maneuvering or long distance gear was screwed to the gearbox.

The front end and driver's cab were yellow, the frame black and the chassis gray.

commitment

During operation, there were high temperatures in the driver's cab and problems with the tightness of the axle drives.

Industrial and port railway Neukölln

The first locomotive was delivered to the Neukölln industrial and port railway . Like the second locomotive for the Düsseldorf port railway, it was equipped with a 385 hp engine. All other locomotives had an output of 400 hp.

The locomotive was taken over by Industriebahn Berlin in 1989 and joined the Neukölln-Mittenwald Railway in 1994 . It was given the designation ML 00612 here . The locomotive is still there today. The last database entry dates from 2014.
