The Young Family is a listed sculpture in the town of Gernrode, part of the town of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located east of the Gernröder old town in Otto-Franke-Straße at the address Otto-Franke-Straße 25 and is listed as a sculpture in the local monument register.

Design and history

The sculpture was made from bronze by the sculptor Heinz Beberniß . The commissioned work was created in the style of Socialist Realism and shows a young family of three. Mother, father and child are represented as naturalistic nudes.

The sculpture, also known as father-mother-child , was originally located in front of the FDGB Fritz Heckert holiday home . After the home was closed in 1990 and then fell into disrepair, the plastic was seized in 1999 and later placed in the front garden in front of the property at Bahnhofstrasse 25, now Otto-Franke-Strasse 25, which was used as a medical center. In the past there was a villa on this property, which has not been preserved.
