history

First print shop in Hauptstrasse from 1848 to 1964
Third print shop on Gutenbergstrasse from 1989 to today

The roots of today's pure web offset printing company lie in the publishing business.

With the takeover of the Preiss / Antrup print shop by the Jungfer family , a diverse publishing and commercial printing business developed in the following years at the Herzberg, Sarstedt , Helmstedt , Braunschweig and Nordhausen locations , from the relocation of the local daily newspaper and various advertising papers to magazine and magazine printing up to the production of side dishes.

Gustav Friedrich Preiss founded a small printing house in the heart of Herzberg ( location ) in 1848 ; the first local newspaper for the city of Herzberg appears under the name Anzeiger für den Flecken Herzberg . Almost 100 years later, in 1950 Erwin Jungfer leased the GF Preiss / Antrup newspaper printer and the Herzberger Kreiszeitung publishing house . Ten years later, the GF Preiss / Antrup newspaper printing company was bought by Erwin Jungfer.

In 1964 the location of the printing house was relocated to the Schlossberg ( Lage ) with the construction of a new printing hall . The publishing house has been operating under the name of Erwin Jungfer GmbH & Co. KG since 1966.

In addition to the existing Herzberger Zeitung , the Osteroder Rundschau was founded in 1969 , the first edition of which appeared on September 13, 1969. The umbrella name Harz Kurier was created as a link between the two editions, and with it the claim to offer the population a comprehensive district newspaper with the Harz Kurier .

From 1987 Sigfried Jungfer was the sole managing director of E. Jungfer GmbH & Co. KG. In 1989, two events shaped the publishing house: a major fire at the castle train station and the start of construction on the first printing hall at the new location in Aue ( Lage ). The name of the publisher was also changed a year later in 1990 to Jungfer Druckerei und Verlag GmbH.

Further expansions took place. In 1991 a second printing hall was built at the Aue site. In 1993 the administration building was rebuilt in the Aue. A third printing hall was inaugurated there the following year.

Harz Kurier Verlagsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG was founded in 1996. At the same time, newspaper production was started in the new building of the fourth printing hall, also in the Aue. The Harz Kurier has been the sole daily newspaper in the district of Osterode am Harz since 1997 . The fifth printing hall was built at the Aue site as early as 1998.

In 2001, Wolfgang Schreiner was appointed managing director of Jungfer Druckerei und Verlag GmbH. The printing complex in the Aue district was expanded again in 2003 and the sixth printing hall was built in 2006. With the succession plan via a management buy-out , the Jungfer family sold all of their shares in 2006 to the new sole shareholders Wolfgang Schreiner, Guido Lang and Roger Mellinghausen. In this context, Jungfer Druckerei und Verlag GmbH sold its shares in the Harz Kurier .

In 2008, further investments were made in two new Manroland Lithoman printing machines, including a new hall, totaling over 25 million euros. With the subsidiary Rototov BV, founded in 2008, the company's activities were expanded to the Netherlands.

In 2014 a hill was removed from the Aue site in order to expand the area again. The former location of the Schloßbahnhof was filled in with the earth.

In May 2018 the Dutch Koninklijke Drukkerij Em. De Jong took over the shares of the partners Guido Lang and Roger Mellinghausen and thus the majority of the company. Andreas Wulf, who kept his shares, remained managing director. The subsidiaries SilverLynx Media GmbH and Rototov BV are also affected by the takeover.
