Juniper is a female as well as male given name and is also used as a surname.
It is derived from the Latin Juniperus , which means something like juniper . Other variations are Junípero (Portuguese) or Guinevere (French). The Welsh name Jennifer , derived from Gwenhwyfar, is probably of the same origin, but is also etymologically interpreted as a combination of gwen = white, beautiful and hwyfar = smooth, soft .
