In the submarginal region of the females, the hind wings show two eye spots, in the males only one, yellow-rimmed and half red-brown and half black-pithed. The fringes of the hind wings are silky white. The anal angle is pointed. On the gray-brown marbled underside of the wing, the eye-spots of the forewings shimmer through.
