Georg Pacher

Georg Pacher (* 1953 ; † July 8, 2014 ) was an Austrian racing driver .

Career

Georg Pacher started his motorsport career in touring car racing in 1977 . In 1979, 1981 and 1983 he competed in the Alfa Romeo one -make cup , the Alfa Romeo Alfasud European Cup and later the Alfasprint European Cup . There he celebrated his best result in the racing series in 1983 with eighth place.

From 1984 to 1986 he started first with a BMW 635 CSi , later with a Ford Sierra XR4Ti in the 3rd division of the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC). His best race result, eighth place, he achieved together with Karl Oppitzhauser at the 500 km race in Monza in 1985 .

From 1987 to 1989 Pacher competed in the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup . By winning the runner-up title in 1988 , he achieved his best result in this one-make cup.

In 1990 and 1992 he drove one season each in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and came seventh in the first year and sixth in the overall standings when he took part for the second time.

In 1995 he drove at the 4-hour race on the Nürburgring together with André Ahrlé and Frank Böhm in a Porsche 964 Carrera RSR 3.8 in a race in the BPR Global GT Endurance Series . The trio finished the race for the Mühlbauer Motorsport team in 12th place.

From 2001 he competed in mountain races with racing cars based on the Steyr-Puch 650 TR . Most recently, he used a Fiat 500 PRC-Abarth specially built for hillclimbing in 2010.

Georg Pacher died on July 8, 2014 after a long illness.
