In the third season, Roland Asch appeared again and dominated the championship. In the first seven races he started from pole position six times and won it ahead of his pursuers in the points classification Wolfgang Wolf , Georg Pacher and Rüdiger Schmitt .

In order to refute the accusation of manipulation, Asch drove a comparison test with a neutral cup car against the other participants on the Salzburgring and underlined his performance with a fastest lap time.

Asch won a total of nine out of ten races and was thus able to defend his championship title. The Belgian Marc Duez only won the race in Spa-Francorchamps .
