Roland Asch (born October 12, 1950 in Altingen ) is a German automobile racing driver .

biography

His automobile career began in 1973 with slalom races and led him to hill climb races , where he became German champion in 1981. After racing in the German racing championship, he made his debut in the German touring car championship in 1984 in a single race at the Hockenheimring . In the following two years, Asch drove for the Ford ABR Ringhausen Rennsport team . In 1988 Asch became a Mercedes-Benz works driver and stayed there until 1994. In 1995 he switched to the Super Touring Car Cup , where he competed for the Ford, Nissan and Opel brands until 1999 and won a race in a Ford in 1995.

In addition to touring cars , Asch also drove successfully in other disciplines. He won the German Porsche 944 Turbo Cup in 1987, 1988 and 1989, as well as the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 1991. In 1999, he drove a Nissan Skyline GT-R from the Japanese team from Falken Tires in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring .

In 2000 , Asch competed in the German Touring Car Masters for the Audi Team Abt Sportsline . In the years 2001 to 2003 he competed in the V8-Star series, where he finished 3rd in 2001, 5th in 2002 and 11th in 2003, winning four races. At the same time, he returned to the Porsche Carrera Cup in 2001, now over 50 years old , where he drove until 2003. A year later he drove a Ford for a few races in the European Touring Car Championship , today 's World Touring Car Championship .

Roland Asch occasionally shows his connection to racing vehicles in a representative way, for example as a driver of racing taxis on the occasion of the international hill climb Arosa ClassicCar 2012.

Personal

He is currently supporting his son Sebastian Asch , who has achieved success as a racing driver in the ADAC GT Masters . Asch also runs a Ford brand car dealership in Ammerbuch .
