André Ahrlé (born June 27, 1961 ) is a German entrepreneur and former racing driver .

Racing career

André Ahrlé was active in GT and sports car racing between 1993 and 2002 . His career began in 1993 in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany . He finished the season 13th overall. In 1995 he finished ninth overall in the Porsche Supercup and made his debut at the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1996 . He drove a Porsche 911 GT2 for the French racing team Larbre Compétition . His teammates were Patrick Bourdais and Patrice Goueslard . The trio finished the race in 20th place overall. This placement meant the sixth final place in the GT2 class, which was won by Guy Martinolle , Ralf Kelleners and Bruno Eichmann (also in a Porsche 911 GT2). By the end of his career, Ahrlé had competed four times in the 24-hour race in western France. He achieved his best placement in the final classification in 1997 when he finished tenth overall with Bruno Eichmann and Andy Pilgrim . That was second place in the GT2 class.

His greatest international success was winning the GT2 class at the 1997 Daytona 24-hour race , again on a Porsche 911 GT2, this time reported by Roock Racing . Ahrlé was part of a team of four that also included Claudia Hürtgen , Patrice Goueslard and Ralf Kelleners. In the overall ranking, the quartet came fourth. Also in the 12-hour race at Sebring Ahrlé was twice at the start.

At the beginning of the 2000s he drove a few races in the FIA GT Championship and the American Le Mans Series and retired from professional racing at the end of the 2002 season.

Historic motorsport

André Ahrlé owns a Shelby Cobra 427 , built in 1965, which was used in international sports car races by Essex Wire Corporation in the 1960s . He takes the vehicle to the start at historic motorsport events.

Entrepreneur

Andre Ahrlé was a co-founder of Bonn- based Special Security Services GmbH , a company that offered security services at concerts and sporting events. In 1999 he and his partners sold it to Deutsche Entertainment AG . Ahrlé remained a minority shareholder and was managing director of the AG for many years.
