Robert "Rob" Schirle (born March 31, 1967 in Nuneaton ) is a British motorsport manager, racing team owner and former racing car driver .

Racing career

Robert Schirle's international driving career began in 1995 in the BPR Global GT Series . He drove for Team Ascari in 1995 and switched to Marcos Cars for the 1996 racing season . With the Marcos LM600 he not only competed in the BPR Series but also races for the British GT Championship . In 1997 he took part in GT races and sports car races for Steve Saleen's racing team . He made his debut in the US endurance races at Daytona and Sebring and also drove the Saleen Mustang in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . While he failed at Daytona and Le Mans , he placed 20th in the overall standings at Sebring .

Schirle celebrated the greatest successes at national GT events. After his victory in the second round of the 2-hour race in Jerez in 1999 , he won the 1-hour race in Thruxton and the 1-hour race in Donington in 2000 . He achieved both overall victories in the British championship on a Lister Storm GT . His team partner was his compatriot David Warnock . Schirle was active as a driver until 2004. It was last used at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in 2004 .

Racing team owner and team manager

In 1997 Robert Schirle founded Cirtek Motorsport , a GT team that was active in the FIA GT Championship as well as the European and American Le Mans Series until the end of the 2006 season . After the team split up, Schirle worked as a team manager at Strakka Racing and as managing director at Protec Fuel System , a company that manufactures fuel pumps for motorsport.
