Junta is a satirical board game created by Vincent Tsao, Ben Grossman and Eric Goldberg . In the board game, the other players take on the role of members of a junta who rule a fictional, highly corrupt "Republica de las Bananas" . The aim of the game is the embezzlement of funds, depending on the expenditure, this is either development aid funds from a “great power that does not ask questions” or funds from the UN that have to be accumulated in your own Swiss account . The rules of the game have some peculiarities, such as the express request to cheat on other players.

history

The game was released in 1979 in the United States by the small publisher Creative Wargames Workshop . Another edition was published in 1985 in the USA by West End Games . A German edition was published by ASS in 1986 and an almost unchanged new edition by Schmidt Spiele in 1999 . In 2005 a graphically revised German version was published by West End Games and in October 2007 by Pegasus Press . The current version corresponds to the new edition of Pegasus Spiele from 2013, in which the rules have been updated and the board and all cards have been given a new graphic design.

The game was also published in French by Jeux Descartes and in Spanish as Golpe by Borras Plana .

The application for indexing the game was rejected on March 3, 1988 by the Federal Testing Office for writings harmful to minors.

Authors

In the first edition only Vincent Tsao is mentioned as author, in the further editions also Ben Grossman and Eric Goldberg. While Tsao and Grossmann did not appear as game authors, Goldberg developed other games (including conflict simulations ).
