Juraj Loj (born February 20, 1983 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak actor .

Life

Juraj Loj was born in Czechoslovakia in 1983 (according to other sources, 1984) . The son of a psychologist grew up with his grandparents in the Vištuk countryside . After Loj, who was enthusiastic about drawing, was not accepted to study art, he completed an acting training at the University of Music in Bratislava (VŠMU).

Loj had his first stage engagement at the theater in Nitra . Loj appeared in the city for several years as a theater actor and between 2006 and 2010 was seen several times in productions at the Andrej Bagar Theater (Divadlo Andreja Bagara) there. He also took orders for commercials for a bank.

Parallel to his theater career, Loj made his film debut with a small role in Miloslav Luther's tragicomedy Tango s komármi (2009). In the following years he gained notoriety mainly through appearances in Slovak television series. In 2013 Loj got a role in the series Búrlivé víno , which revolves around the fates of two winemaking families. This was followed by the hospital series Doktori (2014) and the part as police investigator Dávid Antol in the crime series Za sklom (2016) alongside Ján Koleník . In 2018 Loj was again represented in a hospital series with Sestricky . After Peter Bebjak's psychological thriller Trhlina (2019), he took on his first leading role in the cinema in Agnieszka Holland's drama Charlatan (2020). In the biography of the Czech miracle healer Jan Mikolášek (played by Ivan Trojan ) Loj can be seen as his bisexual lover and assistant František Palko.

Juraj Loj is married to his Slovak acting colleague Zuzana Kanócz (* 1979). The marriage had three children. He counts painting to his hobbies.
