Church father

The church father (also church father, church master, altar man, church father, god father, holy master, jurat, church jury ) was an elected or appointed representative of the church community who performed the following tasks together with the pastor :

Often there were two church fathers.

"Church father" is a historical form of church leadership.

In Hamburg , there was in the main churches since pre-Reformation period in addition to the Juraten the body of jurors , who were responsible for funding the services. Corpse here refers to the "Holy Corpse"; H. the changed host . Both offices were held twice.

In Brașov (formerly: Kronstadt) the role of the “church fathers” was closely linked to the role of councilors.

In the parish church Kaisersteinbruch the honorary office of the church father was held up to master stonemasons .
