Jurgis Jurgelis

Jurgis Jurgelis (born August 9, 1942 in Šiauliai ) is a Lithuanian politician, former head of Valstybės saugumo departamentas (VSD) and VSAT , general .

Life

After graduating from high school, he completed his diploma in mathematics at the Vilniaus pedagoginis universitetas and then law at the Vilniaus universitetas . He then studied directing at Lietuvos valstybinė konservatorija . From 1967 to 1975 he worked as a teacher in Vilnius . From 1975 to 1990 he was a research assistant at the Institute of Lietuvos mokslų akademija . From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the Seimas and from 1993 to 1998 Director General of VSD. In 1996 he was promoted to General of Security by Prime Minister Mindaugas Stankevičius . From 1998 he was an advisor at the VSD, from 2002 to 2004 advisor to the Prime Minister. From 2004 to 2005 he headed Valstybės sienos apsaugos tarnyba (Border Guard Office). In 2004 he was promoted to general in the office by the government of Lithuania . Afterwards he was an advisor to the Police Commissioner General of Lithuania , from 2007 advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania .

He was a member of Lietuvos valstiečių liaudininkų sąjunga .
